Equal Opportunities
Addictions UK's intention is to go further than what is legally required in attaining the standards of good equal opportunities practice in the elimination of unfair discrimination.
Addictions UK is committed to equality of opportunities both as an employer and an organisation. Our equal opportunities strategy permeates all areas of Addictions UK's activities.
Addictions UK undertakes not to discriminate either directly or indirectly against individuals or groups of people on the basis of race, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, age, physical or mental disability, sexuality, marital status, religious beliefs or health issues (including HIV and Hepatitis).
It is Addictions UK's intention to actively advocate equality of opportunity within our supporting and supplying organisations, not only in the services which they provide, but also in their employment practices.
Although the continual changes in our society and the financial restraints under which Addictions UK operates may mean that this aim may not be realised at all times. By creating and developing a specific programme, including a wide range of training opportunities, we all work towards its acceptance as a goal.
It is our belief that equal opportunities must go further than token gestures. It is a strategy which requires a great deal of effort in order to create an environment and atmosphere in which people and organisations not only feel that they are able to join, but, more importantly, are truly welcome to join.
Our staff have practical personal experience of Alcoholism or Addictions. We understand the discrimination that people with addictions suffer and we seek to counter unfair discrimination in all its forms.
We will continuously monitor our equal opportunities policy along with all other policies of Addictions UK to ensure its effectiveness.
Confidentiality
Addictions UK is committed to providing a confidential advice service to its users. We believe that principles of confidentiality must be integrated across all aspects of the services we provide and manage. We believe our users deserve the right to confidentiality to protect their interests and safeguard addictions services.
Addictions UK offers a confidential service - nothing you say to us will be shared with any other organisation or individual without your express permission (see note). Because we believe the confidentiality of our clients is of paramount importance you will see that a statement of Addictions UK's commitment to confidentiality is incorporated into all our publicity materials.
